Why did some pages say 25 September?

That was the previously announced date. Capcom’s later release update moved the global launch forward to 4 September 2026. Any page that still leads with 25 September is stale.

Steam can show 3 September

That is compatible with a 4 September global date when a store renders a regional unlock time. Treat the store’s countdown as the purchase-specific clock and Capcom’s announcement as the global date.

Do I need the previous Onimusha games?

No. In the 25 August developer interview, director Satoru Nihei said the game has no direct story connections to the earlier titles and was made so newcomers can begin here. Returning players may recognize the series’ combat DNA, but prior plot knowledge is not a requirement.

Edition structure

Current official storefronts separate the base game, Deluxe Edition and Premium Deluxe Edition. The higher tiers add charms and cosmetic items; Premium also adds ally outfits and an in-game mini digital soundtrack. Exact availability, regional prices and item wording can change, so compare the live listing on your platform.

Early-adopter window

After moving the release date, Capcom changed the digital pre-order bonus into an Early Adopter Bonus with regional cutoffs on 25–26 September 2026. The bonus and cutoff are separate from the edition tier; verify the checkout listing before purchase.

What is not confirmed on this desk

We do not publish a universal exact unlock hour, preload size, day-one patch size or subscription-service promise. Those are region- and platform-sensitive details and need live store evidence closer to launch. For hardware targets, continue to the PC requirements and troubleshooting brief.
